Gazprom Announces Second Quarter Natural Gas Prices for Ukraine
Gazprom President Miller said on the 2nd that the price of Russian natural gas supplied to Ukraine in the second quarter of this year was US$247.18 per thousand cubic meters.
Miller told the Interfax news agency that day that according to Russia’s preferential natural gas export policy to Ukraine, the price of Russian natural gas supplied to Ukraine in the second quarter of this year was US$247.18 per thousand cubic meters.
According to news on the Russian government website on April 1, Russia decided to extend its preferential policy for natural gas exports to Ukraine until June 30 this year. According to the preferential policy, the preferential margin for Russian natural gas exports to Ukraine is determined based on the contract price of Russian-Ukrainian natural gas. When the natural gas price is no less than 333 US dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, Russia will provide a tariff preference of 100 US dollars per 1,000 cubic meters; when the natural gas price is less than 333 US dollars per 1,000 cubic meters, the tariff preference will be 30% of the price. .
Ukrainian Energy Minister Demchishin has previously stated that Ukraine will suspend natural gas imports from Russia from April 1 if the price of natural gas imported from Russia is higher than 250 US dollars per thousand cubic meters.
Since Ukraine defaulted on its natural gas debt to Russia, Russia implemented a prepayment gas supply mechanism to Ukraine from June 16 last year. After the implementation of this mechanism, Russia will supply natural gas to Ukraine based on the amount paid in advance. As the differences between the two sides were difficult to bridge, Russia cut off natural gas supplies to Ukraine in June last year. On October 30 last year, Russia and Ukraine reached an agreement on a winter gas transmission transition plan, and Ukraine resumed importing natural gas from Russia from December 9 last year.
