UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah emphasized on
the 17th that the international community must redouble its efforts in
sustainable development and renewable energy and jointly promote the
development of renewable energy.
The Preparatory Committee meeting for the
third conference of the International Renewable Energy Agency was held in Abu

Abdullah delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, expressing his
appreciation and gratitude to the member states for their strong support and
help in recommending Abu Dhabi to become the headquarters of the International
Renewable Energy Agency.
He said, "There are many examples
around the world today that prove that the use of renewable energy is
feasible." Countries around the world attach great importance to the use
of renewable energy and obtain a considerable share of it.
Regarding the challenges the world is
facing in terms of climate change and the current status of the traditional
energy industry, Abdullah believes that the top priority for the international
community is to redouble its efforts to promote renewable energy institutions
to play their due role.
He emphasized that the United Arab
Emirates, as a major crude oil producer in the world, has made efforts to
locate the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency in its
capital Abu Dhabi. This is a common voice with other countries and a common
message: "We cannot stuck in relying on the energy of the past to achieve
future prosperity.”
Abdullah said, “It is clear to all of us
that we must provide alternative clean energy sources and implement
energy-saving measures to meet our future needs. We urgently need to work
together to accelerate the development of renewable energy agencies headquarters
and in other countries. The pace of branch building.”
He emphasized that the UAE is committed to
providing full support to the International Renewable Energy Agency to help it
complete the application of renewable energy, transfer technology to countries,
and exchange experience so that they can benefit from sustainable development.
The "2010 Future Energy International
Conference" will be held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab
Emirates, from January 18 to 21. The Director General of the International
Renewable Energy Agency recently announced that representatives from 138
countries will attend the conference. The purpose of the conference is to
strive to find positive ways , to address the world’s challenges in climate
change and energy.
The International Renewable Energy Agency
was established in Bonn, Germany on January 26, 2009. The agency aims to
promote the development and utilization of renewable energy on a global scale.
It is reported that the agency will
officially move into its permanent headquarters in a satellite city on the
outskirts of Abu Dhabi in 2011. The city is expected to be the world's first
"zero carbon" and "zero waste" city powered entirely by
renewable energy.
