Dutch Wind Power Companies Threatened

An entrepreneur from the Dutch province of Drenthe has been threatened because his company is actively involved in the construction of wind turbines at the Monden and Oostermoer wind farms in Drenthe. A threatening letter has also been received by the provincial government of Groningen. According to the police, more companies may have been threatened.

The letter obtained by the entrepreneur says: "We will dismantle everything you have built over the past 20 years one by one and we will not hesitate to take all the time. If you want to continue your company's business, please stop the work on the wind turbines within one week; otherwise, your company's business will no longer be able to continue."

The entrepreneur is the owner of the environmental facility company Avitec infra & milieu in the Nieuw-Buinen region. He regrets the actions against the wind turbines. "Whether you are an advocate or opponent of wind turbines, please let us abide by the laws of our country and conduct a dialogue under the principles of democracy."

"For me, this threat has crossed the line from an emotional and economic point of view," he said, also reporting that one of his company's machines was seriously damaged. Two weeks ago, when his company's employees were working near the station in Delfzijl, a large amount of asbestos was thrown there, which would cause damage to the employees' health. He has reported the case. Now, the entrepreneur has contacted the police again and announced that he has withdrawn his agreement as a supplier of materials for the Monden and Oostermoer wind farms. The police are currently investigating the threats, including letters sent to entrepreneurs and the Drenthe provincial government in the Netherlands, and looking at brochures and leaflets distributed by anonymous people. It is said that some officials of the Drenthe provincial government in the Netherlands have also been intimidated, asking them to think of "everything that happened in World War II."
